While an important fashion designer, Helmut Lang is first and foremost an artist. The Austrian designer has worked in different types of mediums and also architecture. He created his original fashion line in Vienna in the 1970’s but moved it to New York in 1998. Lang’s collection redefined many elements of fashion. He introduced many concepts and ideas in materials and structure, using unusual fabrics and working with innovative methods such as layering. His brand today is a high fashion line the continue to bring out clothing in this progressive spirit at a price point that’s more moderate than similar lines. The company also produces a small line of accessories.
